aBOUT THE aUTHOR

I am so happy you are here. 

My name Is Kelly Britt & I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 
I graduated from a small university in 2017 with a master's degree in Biological Sciences but have always had a passion for writing. 
I married the love of my life in July 2024. He has been the driving force behind this book. His encouragement gave me the confidence to begin writing and I haven’t looked back since.
Character development has been my favorite part of this journey so far. I’m drawn to the questions each character invites: What's their name? What do they look like? How do they shape my main character's path? The fantasy nature of this world opens the door to unexpected relationships, hidden motivations, and exciting twists that continue to evolve as the story unfolds. 
As you journey through book one, you will meet characters who become essential to my main character's transformation from a young girl into the woman she's destined to become. Each character has been carefully imagined and intricately woven into this story. I hope you love each and every one of them as much as I do. Most of them are inspired by real people in my life.

Spoiler: each character’s name is based off of a pet I had or knew growing up!

When I’m not writing or working my day job, you can find me lost in a good book, catching a movie at the local theater, piecing together puzzles, enjoying the beach, sipping coffee, or taking long walks with my greyhound, Kansas.

my doorway into magic

Growing up, I loved the television show Charmed. The Halliwell sisters were powerful, resilient, and fearless. My Main Character’s strength was inspired by that same spirit. Who doesn’t love badass sister witches?

Many other forms of entertainment have also inspired this story, including

  • the sharp science fiction edge of Black Mirror

  • the atmospheric intrigue of Clue.

Literature shaped my imagination as well.

  • Harry Potter showed me that it’s okay to fall in love with places that do not exist. That magic can feel real if you believe in it strongly enough.

  • The toughness of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games

  • The immersive time-bending world of Outlander
