In a city that never sleeps, she studies what never dies.”

The earliest fragments of this story always began and ended with a female protagonist. I knew she would be fearless, driven, and resilient. Losing her parents at a young age forced her to grow up quickly, leaving her with no choice but to persevere. Lucy has always expected more from her life. She appreciates the life she has built, but deep down always felt she was meant for something greater. A graduate of Columbia University, Lucy dedicated herself to her studies, excelling in science and botany. A passion that felt inherent from a young age. Her curiosity about the natural world and her determination to understand it shaped the person she would become. The main character represents the culmination of strength and spirit. She is tough, independent, and unwavering in the face of uncertainty.

Book one was born from my fascination with abandoned buildings, hidden sentient gardens, moody botanical magic, and time travel.

The Setting

Ivy-covered hotel • Hidden labyrinth • New York City

At the heart of the story stands a mysterious hotel: beautiful, imposing, and filled with familial secrets.

The inspiration for this setting came from the eerie feeling of staying somewhere unfamiliar but the excitement of a new experience.

New York City has always inspired me. every year, my mom & I travel into the city to see a Broadway show. These trips left a lasting imprint on me, especially the misty autumn evenings on the train watching the world pass by.

The Origin

forever engraved in my head.

I was at breakfast with my husband, when I mentioned my book idea, “it’s about an orphaned female protagonist with a botany degree and magic she didn’t know she had. Her name is Lucy & she time travels to a fictional floral realm where She needs to figure out how to breed an unknown species of flower to save her family and herself.”

Instead of laughing at me, he smiled and said: “Write it all down.”

So I did.

The rest is history.
